					<description><![CDATA[Hi, It was interesting to read your journey on the SS Corfu.  I travelled on that ship (January 1959) to go to Singapore.  I was 9 years old, and loved the whole experience (and absolutely loved Singapore and Malaya).  I learned to swim in the swimming pool on the SS Corfu while in the Red Sea.  I remember we watched films in the afternoon - first, a swim, then cream doughnuts while watching the film.  I remember the smell of the ship (mainly tar and Diesel, I think).  
By the way, many people (including myself until fairly recently) thought that SS stands for Steam Ship, but apparently I understand that it  stands for Screw Ship or Screw Steamer (as opposed to PS for Paddle Steamer) - but there seems to be many different accounts about that.]]></description>
