Today I’m sharing my Strawberry and cream cheese French toast sandwich. A delicious twist to your classic French toast. An easy snack or breakfast recipe to lift your mood up!
I love french toast. I think it’s one of those snacks that makes you feel warm and comfortable. Recently when I wanted to make the French toast more interesting, I looked at my leftover items and got the idea of making a french toast sandwich with some fresh strawberries and cream cheese frosting. I wasn’t sure if it would go together but I gathered that if I like a strawberry cream-cheese cake I think this would work as well.
So without wasting much time here you are with the recipe:
Strawberry and cream cheese french toast sandwich
Ingredients
For cinnamon cream cheese frosting
- 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
- 2 tbsps fresh cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 2 tsps cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
For french toast sandwich
- 3-4 strawberries as required
- 4 slices bread
- 1 egg
- 1/4rth cup milk
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
For cinnamon cream cheese frosting
- Beat all ingredients under frosting in a bowl on medium speed un till well blended.
- Refrigerate till its nice and cold
For french toast sandwich
- Slice the strawberries and keep them aside
- Whisk together the egg, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a shallow dish
- Heat a pan with little butter
- Dip a slice of bread in the shallow dish till it's nicely coated with the mix on both sides
- Place the bread immediately on the buttered pan and cook till it gets a nice brown colour to it. Do it for both the sides of the bread.
- Now repeat the same for the all other slices.
- Once the slices cool down a bit, Put the cold cream cheese frosting on one side of all the slices.
- Next add the strawberry slices on 2 of the 4 slices.
- Sprinkle granulated sugar over the strawberry slices for a crunch (optional)
- Close two slices together to form a sandwich
- Serve it with fresh strawberries.
Notes
- You can even drizzle some maple syrup or honey over this sandwich when you serve. I like my french toast a little crunchy so I leave it just as it is!
- A whipped cream french toast sandwich will make this even tastier
- You can use any fruit. Bananas, apples, berries, mango will taste equally great with this sandwich.
French toast sandwiches will go with any frosting for that matter- buttercream, whipped cream etc. It would also pair excellently with peanut butter and jams too.
