The kitchen window above the sink is usually the last place anyone wants to be, with dirty dishes piling up. I’m no different. But sometimes, in the quiet moments of washing these vessels, my mind drifts away to reflect on the story of my life. The kitchen window above my sink is a poem offering a glimpse into my journey so far- one of love, growth, and finding my self from the most ordinary of places.
I have a window above my sink,
And as I stand there, I pause to think.
Bubbles rise and my mind starts to stray,
To people and places far away.
I look out at the city, alive and strong,
Buildings rise and life moves all day long.
Above it all, the sky shines bright and blue,
A peaceful backdrop for all I view.
I wonder about my childhood days,
The simple joys, the endless games.
The dreams I held, the things I knew,
How everything felt so fresh and new.
Then came the years of work I loved,
Chasing dreams of hope deserved.
The days were long but filled with grace,
Purpose and passion in every place.
Marriage and motherhood soon came to stay,
A path of love I walk each day.
The joys, the struggles, the constant care,
At times, I felt lost, unsure and scared.
But in the quiet, I turned to prayer,
Found strength in God’s grace- right there.
With uplifting peace, I restore and heal,
Offering love that’s strong and real.
If this window could speak, it would share,
My journey, thoughts and all I care.
In these quiet moments at the sink,
I’ve sensed my true self and in that, I think…
I’m happy and whole, with a heart that’s free,
Trusting God’s plan for me, where I’m meant to be.
With every step, I follow His way,
Open to where He leads me each day.
